Young Changemakers Driving Gender Equality: 2025 Impact Report Released

Project 7 August 2026

Each year, KidsRights presents the International Children’s Peace Prize to a young changemaker who has demonstrated exceptional courage and commitment in advancing children’s rights. Alongside recognising the Prize winner, KidsRights also supports youth-led initiatives around the world that align with the winner’s advocacy and the theme of their work.

Inspired by 2024 International Children’s Peace Prize winner Nila Ibrahimi, young people from 13 projects across 10 countries came together to promote gender equality. Their initiatives ranged from advocating for girls’ access to education to tackling discrimination within their local communities, demonstrating the powerful role young people play in driving meaningful change. This round of changemaker projects was made possible through financial support from WereldWijd voor Kinderen (WWvK).

We are pleased to publish the report highlighting the impact of these 13 youth-led projects, delivered by State of Youth Chapters in 10 countries. Individual project reports can be viewed here. Grants of between €500 and €2,500 were awarded to selected Chapters to deliver initiatives advancing Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and its connection to children’s rights. The projects addressed a broad range of issues, including girls’ education, inclusive learning environments, women’s empowerment, refugee rights, community engagement, youth leadership, and other initiatives that promote equality and children’s rights.

Collectively, the projects reached more than 35,000 people globally, including over 19,000 children, 7,000 youth, and 9,000 adults.

2025 International Children’s Peace Prize Project Fund Impact Report

Beyond the data, the report highlights the experiences and perspectives of the young people leading these projects. Participating State of Youth Chapters shared how the funding helped them grow their initiatives, deepen engagement within their communities, and create more sustainable, youth-led impact.

In the coming weeks, we will highlight the individual projects via www.stateofyouth.org and instagram.com/stateofyouth. Stay tuned!
